J.D. Power and Associates 2008 Marine Engine Competitive Information Study

Volvo Penta and Suzuki Outboards both score high on Customer Satisfaction Index

J.D. Power and Associates conducts surveys including customer satisfaction and product quality on a wide variety of products. On February 14, 2008 at the Miami International Boat Show, the results for the 2008 Marine Engine Competitive Information Study was released. The study looked at four different categories of marine engines, Outboard DI Two-Stroke Segment, Outboard EFI Four-Stroke segment, Sterndrive EFI Segment, and Inboard EFI Segment. In the Outboard EFI Four-Stroke segment, Suzuki Outboards ranked a very high 3rd with a score of 893/1000 and only 5 points behind the 1st place Yamaha Outboards and 5 points above the segment average. In the Sterndrive EFI segment, Volvo Penta ranked an amazing 1st place with a score of 856/1000, 3 points above the segment average and 5 points above MerCruiser.

The survey was conducted between September and November 2007 on 9,718 owners who registered a new boat between June 2006 and May 2007.
