  • Chris Sellner
    Owner
    519-623-2372

    The Captain of the ship.

Chris' childhood involved many great memories at his family cottage on Conestoga Lake. Days were spent boating around the lake, water skiing and winters made for perfect snowmobiling.

Chris wanted to share his love of boating and the solid relationships it built with his own family so in 1990, he and his wife, Karen, purchased a used Bayliner 2655 Sunbridge to make memories with their children, Vanessa and Tyrel.

When it came time to sell the Bayliner, Chris' entrepreneurial itch needed to be scratched and C.A.S. Power Marine Ltd. was born.

Chris hasn't looked back and has enjoyed sharing his passion with the thousands of customers that have walked through his doors.

  • Vanessa Orchard
    Bookkeeper & Manager
    519-623-2372

Vanessa joined C.A.S. Power Marine in March 2007 as a Parts Counter Person. Being Chris' daughter, Vanessa grew up boating on weekends and family vacations exploring Lake Erie, but her experience was limited to hopping in the boat when it was ready to go and helping with the lines.

Helping customers find their parts and writing work orders for the service department vastly expanded Vanessa's knowledge of the issues experienced by boaters. She moved into the Service Advisor role when the growth of the company demanded a separation in job responsibilities.

Through coaching and by drawing on her previous work experience, Vanessa became the full-cycle bookkeeper and manager in 2011. She has enjoyed being the First Mate and helping to navigate the waters of growth, both personally and for the company

  • Pat Kirby
    Parts Counter Person
    519-623-2372

After a number of years running two of his own local fishing businesses, Pat decided it was time to drop his anchor in a new bay. He approached his long-time acquaintance, Chris, in early Spring 2015 when C.A.S. was searching for a new addition to the Parts Dept. Chris's only condition to hiring Pat: "No fishing poles!"

Pat is always so excited to greet his new (and former) customers at C.A.S. He has been a great asset to the team!

  • Dan Orchard
    Marine Technician & Marine Sales
    519-623-2372

Dan's interest in the marine world began at the age of 9 when he started racing boats with a restricted 15hp Johnson. As Dan got older, he moved through different levels of stock outboard racing, most recently racing in the Formula 2 Tunnel Hull class with a 200hp Mercury OpitMax.

Dan completed his 1-year Marine Engine Mechanic course at Georgian College and in April 2009, C.A.S. Power Marine Ltd took him on for his 4-week placement. Following his placement, C.A.S. decided to hire Dan on as a full-time Apprentice Marine Mechanic. Over the next two years, Dan completed both his level 2 and level 3 apprenticeship training, along with fulfilling the required hours. Dan received his Certificate of Qualification from the Province of Ontario as a Marine Engine Mechanic in March 2012. Dan has also trained to become Mercruiser Certified as well as a Suzuki MasterTech, renewing his status's annually since 2009.

In 2011, Dan started to fill the gap in the Sales Department assisting in the sale of new and used outboard motors as well as new and used boats. His vast knowledge and understanding of boats and systems, gained in the service department and from his years of racing, has crossed over well with our sales department customers.

  • Derek Smith
    Marine Technician
    519-623-2372

Derek is one of our resident go-to's for fishing related inquiries. His weekends through the summer are spent at the cottage and usually out on the water catching some of the many fish Lake Erie has to offer.

Derek completed his 1-year Marine Engine Mechanic course at Georgian College and in April 2010, C.A.S. Power Marine Ltd took him on for his 4-week placement. Following his placement, C.A.S. decided to hire Derek on as their second full-time Apprentice Marine Mechanic. Over the next few years, Derek completed both his level 2 and level 3 apprenticeship training, along with fulfilling the required hours. Derek received his Certificate of Qualification from the Province of Ontario as a Marine Engine Mechanic in March 2013. • Don Miller
    Apprentice Marine Mechanic
    519-623-2372

Don is one of those guys who has "done it all". His work has taken him to three different provinces in a cross-section of industries. Don's hobbies, like fishing and hunting, round out the skills and experience needed as a marine mechanic. If you hear the staff laughing, it's likely Don is sharing one of his crazy stories from the weekend.

Don completed his 1-year Marine Engine Mechanic course at Georgian College in April 2014, C.A.S. hired Don on as a full-time Apprentice Marine Mechanic shortly after. Don has completed both his level 2 and level 3 apprenticeship training, and is currently working to fulfill the required hours.

Kirk has been with C.A.S. Power Marine Ltd. since 2012. Originally hired as our Detailer, Kirk moved into the Service Advisor role in Spring 2013. Kirk enjoyed building the relationships with our customers and working with the technicians to get boats back on the water, but with some restructuring within C.A.S., Kirk decided to move back into the Detailer role as of Spring 2016.

Kirk spends some of his summer weekends with his family at the cottage on the Trent and out on their boat. Staff and customer's are delighted with Kirk's enthusiasm for life, he literally whistles while he works!
